Comfortable in the end but don’t forget our post-match phone-in. Lines open NOW and the number you will need to dial is 020 7607 3200. If you're calling from outside the UK, dial +44 20 7607 3200.
Full Time THERE’S THE FULL-TIME WHISTLE: Arsenal are into the Carling Cup Semi-Final!
90
THAT SUMS UP WIGAN’S NIGHT: Figueroa gets forward and then hits his effort a good five yards wide of the right post. And that should be that…
90
HACKED OFF THE LINE: Nasri gets played through and rounds Al Habsi, very much like he did against Tottenham. Though this time he can’t quite squeeze the ball in as a defender gets back to desperately clear
89
THERE’S A FAN ON THE PITCH: Where did he come from? The game doesn’t even stop for him though! He is dealt with by the stewards and we play on…
88
Don't forget our post-match phone-in. Lines open on the final whistle and the number you will need to dial is 020 7607 3200. If you're calling from outside the UK, dial +44 20 7607 3200.
87
SNOOD WATCH: Second and probably last one of the day. And this time it’s Samir Nasri who is centre of attention..
86
WALCOTT RUNS FROM DEEP: He is fed by Nasri and beats Alcaraz to the ball before hitting a weak effort straight at Al Habsi from a tight angle
85
Substitution ARSENAL SUBSTITUTION: Emmanuel-Thomas on for Bendtner. The in-form striker will get five or so minutes then…
84
GOOD BLOCK FROM MCMANAMAN: The ball comes to Walcott at the back post and he fires an effort goalwards before the substitute flings himself in front of it to make a brave block
82
Substitution BOSELLI HAS HAD ENOUGH: He goes down and he wants to come off. Gomez comes on in his place
80
Yellow Card THOMAS GOES INTO THE BOOK: For a heavy tackle in midfield and he gets a yellow card
79
Substitution CHANGE FOR WIGAN: McManaman on for Stam. Not Steve McManaman, though that would be nice. Instead it’s Callum McManaman
77
WALCOTT FLASHES AN EFFORT WIDE: He goes close to making it three when cuts onto his right and looks to bend one into the far corner. Agonisingly wide from Walcott
75

74
So Arsene Wenger looks to close the game out with those changes. Fresh legs and spare another thought for Wigan, 2-0 down and on comes Samir Nasri, arguably Arsenal’s best player this season!
73
Substitution And Nasri on for Wilshere…
73
Substitution DOUBLE CHANGE FOR ARSENAL: Eastmond on for Van Persie…
72
AL HABSI RECOVERS WELL: A great ball from Wilshere splits the Wigan defence and finds the on-rushing Walcott. He slides the ball across to Vela who is forced wide and his shot is well gathered by the goalkeeper
70
VELA CURLS JUST OVER: With very little space inside the area he manages to get a shot away and just misses the target
68
That should be that! Van Persie plays in Vela down the left and first time he slides the ball across for Bendtner who finishes from close range. That really was great ball across the six-yard box from Vela. His ball put the ball on a plate for the Dane
67
GOAL! - Nicklas Bendtner 2 : 0 GOAL FOR ARSENAL: Bendtner makes it 2-0..
65
SPARE A THOUGHT: For the few hundred Wigan fans that have made the journey to north London and have seen their team create very little as of yet
63
N’ZOGBIA IN HARD ON EBOUE: But fairly, though the defender goes down. As I mentioned earlier on, on a cold day like today everything will sting that little bit more
60
BENDTNER PUSHES WALCOTT WIDE: Arsenal break and for a moment had a four on four opportunity. The Dane had the choice of Van Persie, Vela or Walcott and elected for the latter down the right. His pass is over hit and the England winger has to run wide and momentum is lost
58

55
IT OPENS UP FOR WALCOTT: He picks the ball up on the left and cuts inside on to his right foot before running into the space in front of him and hitting a shot towards the bottom-left corner. It bounces just in front of Al Habsi who makes a smart save
53
SZCZESNY PUNCHES: From that corner, with Alcaraz waiting the goalkeeper gets a good fist on it and clears the danger
52
FIRST SIGN OF N’ZOGBIA: He weaves his way through a few challenges inside the area before winning a corner
51
SNOW IN THE AIR: There has been a constant flurry of snow falling throughout the game and it is yet to stop
50
WALCOTT OVER-COOKS IT: He intercepts a Wigan pass and tries to slip a ball through to Van Persie. If the pass had been weighted better the Dutchman would have been clean through though AL Habsi rushes off his line to clear
49
SZCZESNY QUICK OFF HIS LINE: And he had to be there as Boselli looked to latch on to a loose ball. Smart work from the young Polish stopper
48
VAN PERSIE BACK ON THE PITCH: Panic over Arsenal fans...
47
HE SLOWLY GETS TO HIS FEET: The striker took a real whack there as he bravely went in for a header at the front post and was down for a good minute or so
46
VAN PERSIE DOWN: He knocks heads with Alcaraz…
45
The players are out for the second half and are doing anything they can to keep warm!
45

45
NEWS ON THE ARSENAL GOAL: The final touch was off Alcaraz and he has been credited with the own goal
Half Time AND THERE’S THE HALF-TIME WHISTLE: 1-0 to the Arsenal. Where have we heard that before...
44
OH WHAT A MISS FROM VELA: Van Persie plays in the Mexican and somehow is manages to miss the target. That should have been 2-0..
43
GOALMOUTH SCRAMBLE: At the wrong end from an Arsenal point of you. Szczesny is forced to come out to meet a cross to rebuff the danger
42
Will the floodgates open now? Email us via www.arsenal.com/studio, use the 'Facebook Chat' tab to interact with other fans or Tweet us via @ArsenalTVOnline.
41
A corner is swung in from the right and the ball is diverted into the net and it goes in off a Wigan player. I think that way McArthur but Bendtner was the nearest Arsenal man to the ball
41
GOAL! - Antolin Alcaraz 1 : 0 GOAL FOR ARSENAL: I think that could be an own goal as well…
37
FIGUEROA HANDLES: Inside the area! But the referee doesn’t want to know. A free kick was whipped in and with Van Persie waiting Figueroa’s hand diverted the ball away from the captain. The player appeal, the fans appeal… but nothing from the referee
36
Substitution N’Zogbia comes on for Moses: I rate this guy, I really do. When he is good he can be very good. Let’s hope tonight he isn’t…
34
MOSES DOWN: With five or six medics surrounding him. He seemed to fall awkwardly on his wrist after a challenge from Eboue. He is stretchered off and a sub is warming up, his evening is over…
33
Yellow Card FIGUEROA BLOCKS WALCOTT: As the winger looks to break down the right he gets blatantly checked and will go into the book for that
31
CALM DEFENDING FROM GOHOURI: Bendtner crosses from the right and with Vela waiting he casually chests back to Al Habsi. Those look great when they come off, though when they done defenders can look silly! Though on that occasion, we will give him credit..
29
Tell us what you think of these 'snoods' that have taken the Premier League by storm. I'm sure messers Roebuck and Winterburn would love to know. Email us via www.arsenal.com/studio, use the 'Facebook Chat' tab to interact with other fans or Tweet us via @ArsenalTVOnline.
27
SNOOD WATCH: First one of the evening and the spotlight falls on… Emmanuel Eboue. More to follow no doubt
26
Will we rue that miss? Email us via www.arsenal.com/studio, use the 'Facebook Chat' tab to interact with other fans or Tweet us via @ArsenalTVOnline.
25
OH DELIGHTFUL FROM VAN PERSIE: Though equally as poor from Vela! Wilshere feeds the feet of Van Persie 20 yards from goal and with his first touch he flicks the ball through his legs and onto Vela. The Mexican goes one-on-one with Al Habsi, waits for the goalkeeper to go down and then dinks the ball wide of the post. The best chance of the evening by far, half the crowd though it was in...
24
VELA JUST SLIPS: The striker gets to the byline and just as he is about to pick out a team mate he seems to lose he footing and centers harmlessly into the arms of Al Habsi.
23
DENILSON VERY FORTUNATE: He gets caught on the ball in a dangerous position though very luckily for Arsenal Watson over-hits a through ball to Boselli and Szczesny comes out and gathers
22
WIGAN STARTING TO SEE MORE OF IT: Slowly but surely they are creeping further up the pitch. They keep the ball in Arsenal’s half for a good minute until Koscielny puts a foot in and wins it back from Watson. They seem to lack real penetration in the final third, though I daren’t speak too soon..
20
KOSCIELNY HEADS OVER: He meets a corner from the right and beats Watson to the ball before powerfully heading just over Al Habsi’s bar from close range
19
BENDTNER IS UP HIGHEST: From the free kick at the back post he heads into the side netting from a very tight angle
18
McARTHUR LATE ON WILSHERE: The England man nicks the ball away from McArthur and that creates another crossing position for Van Persie 40 yards out.
17
‘ARSENAL, ARSENAL, ARSENAL….’: The crowd are trying to keep themselves warm him because it seems to have got EVEN colder here in the last five minutes. I think we need the Arsenal players to warm us up on the pitch with some scintillating football…
15
WIGAN ENJOY A SPELL OF POSSESSION: Though Moses is offside and Arsenal win it back
14
FIRST SIGN OF VAN PERSIE: He cuts inside from the right and tries to slide in Bendtner inside the area though Alcaraz cuts it out
13
What have you made of Arsenal's start? Email us via www.arsenal.com/studio, use the 'Facebook Chat' tab to interact with other fans or Tweet us via @ArsenalTVOnline.
12
CARELESS FROM EBOUE: He gives the ball away with a wayward pass though on this occasion Boselli can’t capitalise
11
OUCH: Yes, Denilson had a go there and fired straight into the wall. That would have stung! I think that hit Moses..
10
CHANCE TO GET THE BALL INTO THE BOX: Or is Denilson lining up a shot here? From all of 40 yards in a central position...
9
Yellow Card VELA BOOKED: Moses tries to break and, though he has very little support, the Mexican brings him down inside the centre circle. That’s the first yellow card of the evening…
7
MOSES INTO THE SIDE NETTING: Where did that come from? A long looping diagonal ball finds the striker on the left and he cuts inside and attacks Eboue. He beats the right back and fires a low shot into the side netting from a narrow angle.
6
NO OUTLET: Whenever Wigan get the ball they seem to lack ideas. McArthur makes a run forward and is flagged offside, though at least that is slightly more ambitious
5
ARSENAL WITH ALL THE BALL: Wilshere and Denilson seeing a lot of the ball in the middle. Wigan have hardly been in the Gunners half so far…
4
MOSES CATCHES EBOUE: Down by the Arsenal corner flag as the Ivorian tries to shield the ball out. On a bitterly cold day like today those will sting…
3
WIGAN AMBITION: Or lack of it should I say. The away side look content to get men behind the ball and play long whenever they get it
2
BENDTNER LOSES HIS BEARINGS: Van Persie swings a great ball into the back post from a free kick and the striker gets free but manages to miss the ball completely from seven yards out. He lost his man and look destined to head home there but still, a lively start from Arsenal
1
TACTICS: Vela from the left, Walcott from the right and Van Persie behind Bendtner up top. I hope that clears things up..
Kick Off Van Persie and Bendtner get us underway…
I’m not quite sure how Arsenal are going to set themselves up up-front. As soon as the game gets underway I’ll let you know…
The players are out and doing the usual line-ups before the game. High fives all round, the players look like they mean business tonight…
Just five minutes until kick off now and on the big screen they are playing the usual montage of great Arsenal moments. Adams, Henry… there are to many to name. It makes you proud to be a Gooner!
So what of tonight’s opponents Wigan? I spoke to Paul Kendrick of the Wigan observer yesterday and he told me how the Latics love to get the ball down and play, much like Arsenal. “He [Roberto Martinez] doesn’t know any other way [than to play attractive football]. He’s not the kind of manager who will go route one just to get results. He will be looking forward to the opportunity of going up against a fellow advocate of good football. There is no danger that Martinez will resort to anything else other than his usual brand of attacking football.” So that means we could be in for a feast of football tonight. Fingers crossed!
The Emirates is slowly filling up as the players warm up in front of me - the Arsenal players to my left and the visitors to my right. I wonder how many ‘snoods’ will be on show tonight? Don’t worry I will keep you right up to date with ‘Snood Watch’.
The Boss has this week insisted his Carling Cup team is as youthful as ever, it’s just not as obvious as before. What do you make of tonight’s starting XI ?Email us via www.arsenal.com/studio, use the 'Facebook Chat' tab to interact with other fans or Tweet us via @ArsenalTVOnline. Don't forget our post-match phone-in.
Wojciech Szczesny starts in goal and Johan Djourou partners Laurent Koscielny at the centre of the Arsenal defence. Jack Wilshere and Denilson start in midfield. There is youth on the bench in the form of Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Craig Eastmond, Havard Nordtveit and goalkeeper James Shea.
So Robin van Persie will make his first start since August 28 against Wigan tonight. The Dutch striker will captain the Arsenal side for the and is joined in the starting line-up by Nicklas Bendtner, Carlos Vela and Theo Walcott.
I have a team sheet in my hand and here is the Arsenal team for tonight: Szczesny, Eboue, Koscielny, Djourou, Gibbs, Denilson, Wilshere, Walcott, Bendtner, Van Persie (c), Vela Subs: Sagna, Nasri, Arshavin, Eastmond, Emmanuel-Thomas, Nordtveit, Shea.
What are your thoughts ahead of the match Arsenal fans? Is the Carling Cup a ‘big’ competition? Do you expect Arsène Wenger to play some younger players tonight? And tell me… What starting XI do you think the Boss should pick? Email us via www.arsenal.com/studio, use the 'Facebook Chat' tab to interact with other fans or Tweet us via @ArsenalTVOnline. Don't forget our post-match phone-in. Lines open on the final whistle and the number you will need to dial is 020 7607 3200. If you're calling from outside the UK, dial +44 20 7607 3200.
The MatchDay Show gets underway at 7.15pm (UK time) with highlights of Saturday’s Premier League win over Aston Villa, the best bits from Arsène Wenger’s pre-match interview and all the breaking team news.
It’s a very wintery north London tonight with snow falling heavily throughout the day in north London, and let me tell you it’s BITTERLY cold here. I’m in the relative warmth of the press lounge though I’ll be braving the conditions outside to bring you all the action later. Scarf? Check. Hat? Check. Arsenal TV Online coat? Check. I think that’s everything!
So, the Carling Cup Quarter-Final and we are just three games away from Wembley. Impressive away wins over Tottenham and Newcastle have signaled Arsène Wenger’s intent in this season’s competition and he and his team have been rewarded with a home tie against Wigan Athletic in the last eight.
I'm Giuseppe Muro and I’ll be bringing you minute by minute updates from tonight's game from a very wintery Emirates Stadium.
