ARSENAL PLAYING OUT THE FINAL FEW MINUTES: The Gunners are passing the ball around to run down the clock
89
Yellow Card BARTON GETS BOOKED: In the final few minutes a frustrated Barton goes into the referee's book
89
WELL PLAYED SZCZESNY: The goalkeeper makes a great save at the feet of Carroll to make sure of his clean sheet. Then from a cross he punches confidently. He hasn’t had much to do this evening but what he has done, the youngster has impressed tonight.
88
The winger raced onto the ball and once again no-one was going to stop him. He composed himself before slotting his finish under Krul
88
GOAL! - Theo Walcott 0 : 4 GOAL FOR ARSENAL! Walcott gets his second and makes it 4-0...
85
GREAT SAVE: Szczesny beats the ball away from a Taylor free kick. It was heading into the top-left corner before a strong right hand diverted the ball away from goal
83
Substitution That will be Bendtner's last contribution tonight as he is replaced by Emmanuel-Thomas. He scored a hat-trick for the Reserves last week against West Ham and will get the final seven minutes here
82
Just as he did on Sunday the Dane adds a third for Arsenal. Perch lost the ball in a dangerous position and Fabregas pounced. He passed to Bendtner on the left of the area who cut inside and hit a wonderful curling effort into the top corner
82
GOAL! - Nicklas Bendtner 0 : 3 GOAL FOR ARSENAL: Bendtner makes it 3-0...
81
GOALMOUTH SCRAMBLE: From a Newcastle corner Ranger headed goalwards and Szczesny smotheres the loose ball with two strikers waiting
79
ANOTHER GOOD BLOCK FROM DJOUROU: What a couple of minutes for the defender. Gutierrez ran into the area and crossed to the near post where Djourou was waiting to head away from a dangerous position
77
GREAT INTERCEPTION FROM DJOUROU: Barton tries a cutting through ball but the Swiss defender is up to the challenge. He stuck out a leg and made a vital sliding clearance. The defender hasn’t played much football but he looked very sharp there
75
Yellow Card YELLOW CARD: For Sagna.. He dwells on the ball in a dangerous position and Gutierrez steals the ball. The Argentine then attacks the full back who brings him down and goes into the referee's book. He can have no complaints there
73
LAST-DITCH TACKLE FROM PERCH: Bendtner slipped the ball through to Walcott who was bearing down on goal. Just as he was about to shoot Perch came from nowhere to make a fantastic challenge. If he didn’t time that one right he was off so a lot of credit has to go to the defender there
71
ARSENAL ATTACK: Though Walcott and Sagna are isolated up front and the French defender loses the ball inside the area
70
Substitution Substitution for Newcastle: Barton on for Smith. Like for like if ever I've seen it...
69
Substitution Substitution for Arsenal: Fabregas on for Vela. The Arsenal captain will get some much-needed minutes under his belt as he continues his return from injury
67
NEWCASTLE ATTACK: But they lack any real composure in the final third. Carroll is forced to cross from the left-hand touchline. If he is all the way out there and not in the box Arsène Wenger will be happy to let the striker have the ball as long as he wants.
66
RANGER HEADS WIDE: From a Newcastle corner the striker jumps highest though fails to hit the target.
64
CARROLL SHOOTS WIDE: On this occasion his effort is harmless though Arsenal can’t afford to let the in-form striker have too much space inside the area
63
GREAT CHALLENGE FROM PERCH: Vela gets to the byline before cutting the ball back to his strike partner. Just as Bendtner was about the pull the trigger Perch slid in and made a fantastic block to deny the Dane
62
THIS ONE COMES TO NOTHING: and Newcastle clear..
62
ARSENAL HAVE A CORNER: And last time they had one of these they scored..
61
SMITH HAS TO BE CAREFUL: He chops down Vela. The Newcastle man is already on a yellow card and can’t afford too many more of those. Vela stays down for a while but gingerly gets back to his feet.
60
ARSENAL BREAK: Vela runs at pace and finds Rosicky on the left of the penalty area but his cross beats everyone in the area and Newcastle clear
58

56
Substitution And Gutierrez for Routledge
56
Substitution NEWCASTLE REACT: With a double change... Carroll for Lovenkrands..
53
Djourou wins a header from a Krul clearance and Walcott races onto the ball. No one was going to catch him as went one on one with the goalkeeper and calmly dinked the ball over him and into the net to double Arsenal’s lead
53
GOAL! - Theo Walcott 0 : 2 GOAL FOR ARSENAL: Walcott makes it 2-0...
51
'1-0 to the Arsenal..' is the chant from the Arsenal fans.
50
PERCH HEADS OVER: From an in-swinging corner from the left Perch loses Denilson and heads over Szczesny’s goal from eight yards out. That was a real let off for Arsenal.
48
WALCOTT WINS THE BALL FROM KADAR: Inside the Newcastle half the England international pressures the defender and forces him to make a mistake. Arsenal attack but Williamson clears well from a dangerous position on the penalty spot
47
Yellow Card YELLOW CARD: Smith is booked for a foul on Walcott. The winger burst down the right before getting chopped down by Smith and the referee produced the first booking of the evening. And rightly so
Kick Off Arsenal get the second half underway…
Half Time And there is the half-time whistle..Email us via www.arsenal.com/studio, use the 'Facebook Chat' tab to interact with other fans or Tweet us via @ArsenalTVOnline.
45
Newcastle failed to clear a corner and when Bendtner headed the ball goalwards Krul let the ball go under his body. It looked to be heading goalbound before Taylor attempted to block - though his clearance hit the back of Krul’s head and trickled into the net. That is one of the softest goals you could wish to see. Arsenal won't mind though as they go into the break a goal to the good.
45
GOAL! - Tim Krul 0 : 1 GOAL FOR ARSENAL! I think that's an own goal! By the goalkeeper Krul. What a finish to the first half at St James' Park!
43
GOOD CLAIM FROM SZCZESNY: A deep cross from the right is plucked from the air by the Polish goalkeeper. Commanding play from the youngster.
41
GOOD EFFORT FROM BENDTNER: Vela picks up the ball inside the Newcastle half and plays the ball to the Dane who in turn picks out Denilson. With his first touch the Brazilian plays the ball back to the striker on the edge of the area and he fires straight at Krul. Good link-up play from the Arsenal attack.
39
EBOUE INTO THE SIDE NETTING: He beats Taylor in a promising position on the left and drives into the area. With three waiting in the middle he opts to drill a shot towards the near post though misses the target from a tight angle. Positive play from the Ivorian though you can’t help think the better option there was to find a team mate
37
SNAP SHOT FROM BENDTNER: He fires low at Krul from ten yards but the goalkeeper who saves well.
36
LOVENKRANS WELL OFFSIDE: The Arsenal defence step up well and the striker finds himself a good yard beyond the last defender after being slipped in by Smith. He puts the ball into the back of the net but the whistle has long since gone
34
ANOTHER POOR DELIVERY: Though Vela’s corner again beats everyone
33
KOSCIELNY HEADS CLEAR: Under a lot of pressure from Lovenkrans the defender heads behind at the near post for a corner. Djourou heads the corner away and Arsenal break and win a corner of their own.
32
PERCH IS DOWN: He and Eastmond come together and the former Nottingham Forest player limps off with a knock
30
ROSICKY FOULS GUTHRIE: Newcastle tried to break and the Czech international slides in slightly late on the Newcastle man and the referee awards a free kick on the half way line
28
NEWCASTLE FANS WANT A PENALTY: The ball hits the midriff of Sagna and the crowd go up after Djourou's attempted clearance hits the Frenchman. Though Ranger was right next to the incident and didn’t appeal at all
27
ROSICKY JUST OVER-HITS HIS PASS: The Arsenal captain tries to slip in Bendtner from the edge of the area but just puts a little bit too much on it. Bendtner can’t reach it and Krul gathers the loose ball
26
BENDTNER CAN’T CONTROL IT: He gets to the byline and tries taking on Kader but the ball rolls out for a goal kick much to the Dane’s frustration
25

23
KRUL SCRAMBLING: Arsenal break with Walcott down the right and he takes on his man before getting a cross in. It hits Williamson and loops over Krul and onto the roof of the net with the goalkeeper back peddling. The corner comes to nothing as Vela over hits his cross
20
WELL PLAYED KOSCIELNY: Under pressure from Ranger he passes a bouncing ball back to Szczesny with great assurance. That really was calmness personified
18
Substitution SAGNA IS COMING ON: He replaces Gibbs who goes straight down the tunnel. That is a real shame for the young English defender. Sagna goes to right back and Eboue goes over to left back
16
GIBBS IS COMING OFF: It looks like he can’t continue and he has signaled to come off.
14
SMITH RATTLES THE BAR: Wow! Where did that come from? After Koscielny made that clearance the ball found it’s way to Smith who struck the ball first time from all of 25-yards and his effort hit the top of the bar. I think Szczesny got a touch though the officials didn’t see it. That has to go down as a great stop by the youngster.
14
KOSCIELNY BLOCKS OFF THE LINE: Ranger bursts though on goal and rounds Szczesny though can’t get his balance. In the mean time the defender gets back and makes a vital interception.
12
HANDLED BY VELA: Rosicky sweeps a ball out to the striker but he controls it with his arm and the referee blows up for a free kick.
11
What have you made of the Gunners start? How are we not in front?... Email us via www.arsenal.com/studio, use the 'Facebook Chat' tab to interact with other fans or Tweet us via @ArsenalTVOnline.
10
HE LIMPS BACK ON: Though quite gingerly it has to be said..
9
GIBBS LIMPING OFF: After a hefty challenge the full back is down and looks in some pain. He is receiving a bit of treatment on the touchline
7
FIRST TOUCH: For Szczesny.. And it’s nearly a nervy one as Eastmond under-hits a headed backpass and the keeper has to be quick off his line to get to the ball before Ranger
6
WHAT A START: It’s all the men in red as they win a corner. Gibbs has a shot from outside the area that gets blocked. It comes to nothing but Newcastle don’t know what has hit them here!
5
THIS TIME IT'S BENDTNER: The Dane is latest Arsenal man to go close. He drags a left-foot shot wide from the left of the penalty area. What a start from Arsene Wenger’s side here
4
ARSENAL KNOCKING AT THE DOOR: Walcott gets to the byline and cuts the ball back into the area. Krul misses the ball though Williamson heads clear with Bendtner closing in and then Perch hacks clear
3
TAME SHOT FROM EBOUE: The Ivorian has a go from the edge of the area but his effort is poor and rolls harmlessly into the goalkeepers arms
2
BENDTNER HAS A SHOT: From the corner Newcastle fail to clear and it comes to Bendtner at the back post. His first shot is blocked though the ball comes back to him and with his second attempt he forces another decent save from Krul. Promising start from Arsenal
1
EARLY CHANCE FOR VELA: Rosicky catches Williamson in possession on the edge of the area and he played in Vela. The Mexican went one on one with Krul who made a good save low to his left. That was a real early opening for the Gunners. Maybe too early for Vela who was caught a little cold.
Kick Off The players are ready and kick off is upon us…COME ON YOU GUNNERS!

St James’ Park was the setting for Dennis Bergkamp’s wonder goal in 2002 and a bit more Arsenal magic would do nicely to warm up a winter night in the north east. Kick off is fast approaching…
Wojciech Szczesny has bene rewarded for his patience with only second firt-team appearance of his Arsenal career. Let me tell you there are a lot of people who really rate this guy. Nick Teale, a former Arsenal.com reporter, has watched his rise through the ranks and thinks he has the making of a world-class goalkeeper. Tonight is a massive opportunity for the Pole.
So Jay Emmanuel-Thomas is on the bench tonight and he has said this week that he can offer something different and he will get his chance tonight. “There’s no one that plays exactly my style,” Emmanuel-Thomas told Arsenal.com. “I’m a big guy that likes to run with the ball and beat players. I can create chances, I can score goals, I can make goals and the way I see things in the game has become a lot better than it used to be.” He scored a hat-trick for the Reserves last week and I wouldn't be suprised if we saw the in-form striker in action at some point tonight!
What do you think of Arsène Wenger’s starting XI? Are you glad Wojciech Szczesny will get his chance in goal? How much are you looking forward to seeing Craig Eastmond? Email us via www.arsenal.com/studio, use the 'Facebook Chat' tab to interact with other fans or Tweet us via @ArsenalTVOnline
Laurent Koscielny returns after a back injury and partners Johan Djourou in the Arsenal defence. Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner also make their first starts after long lay-offs.
So as expected Arsène Wenger has named a side full of first-team experience. Craig Eastmond in the only player from outside the first-team squad that gets a place in the starting XI and the 19-year-old starts in midfield alongside Denilson and Tomas Rosicky.
Szczesny, Eboue, Djourou, Koscielny, Gibbs, Denilson, Eastmond, Rosicky, Walcott, Bendtner, Vela Subs: Sagna, Fabregas, Fabianski, Arshavin, Emmanuel-Thomas, Lansbury, Nordtveit
