Earlier I spoke to Ukrainian TV presenter Olexander Denysov and he told me Eduardo has promised the Shakhtar fans he will score tonight… and the former Gunner does start for Shakhtar
Wenger has warned his players that the Ukrainian champions will be seeking revenge tonight and stressed the importance of early qualification: “I will remind the players that Shakhtar are a good side that we caught maybe on a good day. They will try to get revenge at home and we have a good opportunity to qualify to directly from the group. We want to take this chance.”
Nicklas Bendtner will lead the Arsenal attack tonight then. From the side that beat West Ham on Saturday Marouane Chamakh drops to the bench as do Bacary Sagna and Laurent Koscielny. Cesc Fabregas (hamstring) has not travelled as a precaution and Andrey Arshavin (virus), Alex Song (calf) and Denilson (groin) are also missing. Craig Eastmond starts in midfield alongside Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott is given a place on the right. Johan Djourou partners Sebastien Squillaci at centre half and Tomas Rosicky captains the side.
