Full Time And there's the full-time whistle... Arsenal 0-1 Newcastle
90
Red Card RED CARD FOR KOSCIELNY: Newcastle break and Ranger gets in front of the defender who brings him down 30 yards from goal on the right touchline. He was the last man and by the letter of the law he had to go
90
THE BALL AT THE WRONG END OF THE PITCH: Newcastle have it deep in the Arsenal half with a thrown in as they run the clock down
90
FOUR MINUTES OF ADDED TIME: Come on Arsenal!
89
FRUSTRATING FOR BENDTNER: Clichy tries to play a long diagonal ball to the striker but it goes over him and out for a goal kick

88
ACROBATIC FROM RANGER: Carroll wins a hopeful long ball and it falls to the substitute who tries an overhead kick from the penalty spot that goes well over
87
KRUL OUT TO SMOTHER: Arshavin races onto a through ball on the left of the penalty area but the goalkeeper comes out to rebuff the danger
85
VAN PERSIE COMING DEEP: He is trying to get on the ball in deeper positions but Newcastle are defending well here
84
VOLLEY FROM ARSHAVIN: Fabregas battles well to win the ball back from Carroll on the edge of the Newcastle penalty area. He plays the ball out to Arshavin who hits a first-time volley wide of the right-hand post from a narrow angle
82
Substitution Substitution for Newcastle: Ranger for Ameobi
81
FLYING HEADER FROM FABREGAS: Arshavin does well to work a short corer with Clichy before driving towards the penalty box and finding Fabregas eight yards out. His diving header goes straight at Krul who makes a comfortable save
79
KRUL IN A HEAP: Fabregas chips a ball towards the back post where Bendtner challenges with the goalkeeper before Krul claims it well. He then throws the ball out for a throw in so he can receive medical attention. I didn’t see any thing wrong with that but Newcastle continue to run down the clock and take all the pace out of the game
78
VAN PERSIE JUST OVER-HITS IT: Arsenal break and the Dutchman runs at Williamson before playing a ball out to Walcott. His puts just too much on his pass and the momentum is lost.
76
FABREGAS MUST BE CAREFUL: He brings down Carroll inside the centre circle and with his name already in the book he can't afford many more of those

73
ARSHAVIN DRIVES THROUGH: The little Russian dances through three Newcastle challenges inside the area and just as he is about to pull the trigger Coloccini makes a vital interception. That has really got the crowd going though!
72
Substitution Substitution for Arsenal: Bendtner on for Wilshere
70
CARROLL FLAHES AN EFFORT WIDE: A high hopeful ball towards the striker in brilliantly controlled before he lashes a left-footed effort just wide of Fabianski’s left-hand post
68
Yellow Card YELLOW CARD FOR FABREGAS: He loses control of the ball on halfway and then brings down Tiote before going into the book
67
WILLIAMSON RISES HIGHEST: Barton with a good delivery from a corner towards the back post and the defender heads just wide of the far post
65
WILSHERE LOOKS IN PAIN: He comes together with Barton and comes out holding the lower part of his leg. No blame attached to Barton there, he won the ball and got a little bit of the Arsenal man. He is up and limping off and he will be OK to continue
63
SIMPSON SOMEHOW BLOCKS: Arsenal break with Arshavin and when he tries to pass to the overlapping Sagna the ball battles off the defenders legs and falls harmlessly to Krul
62
KEEP BALL FROM NEWCASTLE: The away side string a number of passes together before Carroll tries to play a through ball to Nolan but he captain is offside
60
THE FANS GETTING FRUSTRATED: Newcastle enjoy a long spell of possession and you feel they will try and slow the pace of the play right down now as they protect their slender lead
58
AND THERE’S HIS FIRST TOUCH: Which is greeted by a great roar by the Arsenal fans. He links up well with Clichy and the defender whips a dangerous ball into the near post where Krul claims well
57
Substitution HERE HE COMES.... For the first time since August 28 he steps onto the field. Chamakh is man replaced
56
VAN PERSIE TOLD TO GET HIS TRACKSUIT OFF: His introduction is imminent
55
Substitution CHANGE FOR ARSENAL: Arshavin comes on for Nasri. He was struggling in the first half with that calf problem and the Russian comes on to replace him

52
A SWING AND A MISS: Barton plays a great in-swinging ball towards the back post from a deep position and searches out Carroll. The striker beats the offside trap but completely fluffs his lines and the danger passes
50
CHAMAKH CAN’T QUITE REACH IT: Song receives a ball from Sagna and goes past Williamson before getting to the byline and crossing dangerously right across the six-yard box. The striker tries to stretch and get a toe on it but Simpson beats him to it and clears
49
WALCOTT THUNDERS THE BAR: Wilshere takes five Newcastle defenders out of the game and finds Walcott with a cute reverse ball. He gets a little bit of luck as it break for him but then from ten yards he smacks an effort past Krul and onto the underside of the bar.
47
VAN PERSIE WARMING UP: I feel if it stays like this Arsene Wenger may have to employ the Dutch striker earlier than he may have liked
46
FABREGAS BATTLES BACK WELL: He wins the ball from Tiote and in the process gets chopped down. Good urgency at the start of the second half from Arsenal
Kick Off HERE ARE NEWCASTLE: They emerge and straight away we are underway in the second half. COME ON YOU GUNNERS!
45
ARSENAL OUT EARLY: They are on the pitch and in position already with no sign of the away side. I think Arsene Wenger may have had more a few stern words for his men during the break
45

Half Time THERE'S THE HALF-TIME WHISTLE: Arsenal have been on top for long periods of the game here but go in a goal down at the break
45
Barton hits a high ball into the area and the striker beats Fabianski to it and powerfully heads home into the empty net
45
GOAL! - Andy Carroll 0 : 1 Goal for Newcastle: Carroll gives the away side the lead

40
FLYING ONE-HANDED SAVE FROM KRUL: Great stop from the Newcastle man. Fabregas and Nasri combine again though this time it’s the Frenchman who has a shot. Fabregas gets to the byline before cutting a great ball back for his team mates who curls an effort towards the top-right hand corner from eight yards. The keeper sees it late before sticking out a strong left hand to keep the scores level.
38
FABREGAS DRILLS INTO THE SIDE NETTING: Nasri holds the ball up well on the edge of the area before waiting for a marauding run outside of him from the Spaniard. He opts to take a touch before firing a shot at the near post from a tight angle though his effort goes just the wrong side of the upwright
36
GOOD STRENGTH FROM SAGNA: Much has been said about the threat of Carroll though the French defender nearly knocked him off his feet as the pair battled for possession
34
SOL CAMPBELL WARMING UP: He jogs out down in front of me to a warm reception for the former Gunner. He and Arshavin share a few friendly words and a bit of a joke which doesn’t go unnoticed by the fans who chant the Russian's name
33
NASRI DOWN: He's rubbing the back of his calf after a challenge from Simpson. It looks like the Frenchman just landed awkwardly on it but he should be OK to continue
31
Yellow Card TIOTE GOES INTO THE BOOK: He stops an Arsenal counter attack by bringing down Fabregas and is given a yellow card
29
WILSHERE BRINGS DOWN BARTON: The pair challenge for a 50/50 inside the Arsenal half and with both players sliding for the ball Barton just beats the Arsenal man to it and gets chopped down. The fans don’t like that one because it looks like he tried to pull out of that one
28
FABIANSKI PLUCKS ONE FROM THE SKY: Barton tries to bend a ball towards the back post and the goalkeeper confidently claims the ball
25
AMEOBI DOWN IN A HEAP: He’s struggling in the centre circle and looks in a lot of pain.
23
AMBITIOUS EFFORT FROM FABREGAS: The ball broke for Song in midfield and after his touch lets him down the ball sits up nicely for Fabregas who tris a half volley from all of 35 yards. His strike smacks Tiote who blocks well from point-blank range. I bet that hurt..
21
Yellow Card CLICHY GETS A BOOKING: Gutierrez held the ball up on the half-way line before getting clattered by the defender. No real excuses and as he gets a yellow card
19
WILLIAMSON HEADS CLEAR: Walcott is causing Jose Enrique all kinds of problems on the right and he again gets to the byline. This time he opts to cut back inside onto his left foot and chips a cross to the front post but can only find Williamson who heads behind for a corner
17
FABREGAS TWISTING AND TURNING: Very unlucky from the captain who hits an effort just wide of the left-hand post from inside the area. He is played through on the right of the penalty area by Nasri and with Coloccini in hot pursuit he shows great skill to wriggle free and get a shot away. His effort hits Williamson and goes just wide
15
TACTICS: Walcott looks very dangerous on the right-hand side as he has linked up with both Wilshere and Fabregas on several occasions. After that initial period of possession for Newcastle the Gunners are on top now
14

13
FABREGAS SMACKS THE BAR: Oh how unlucky was that! Fabregas strikes the free kick from 25 yards and his effort glances off the head of Carroll and hits the top of the crossbar. The ball cannons skywards and as a nervous-looking Krul gets to his feet the ball then dropped back down onto the roof of the net.
12
FREE KICK IN A PROMISING POSTION: A clever ball from Fabregas finds Wilshere who is brought down by Coloccini
11
GOOD BREAK FROM WALCOTT: He ran at Coloccini and you could see the fear in the Argentinean's eyes from here. He fed Nasri but his pass was slightly overhit and Newcastle cleared
10
FLOODLIGHTS FLICKERING ON: It’s only 1.42pm (English time) and already they are on. I fear Winter is here
9
THAT PENALTY SHOUT: We've just been shown a replay and Gutierrez went down VERY easily
8
HESITANCE IN THE NEWCASTLE DEFENCE: Fabregas crosses into Koscielny who heads goalwards and with no pressure on them Nolan and Ameobi fail to deal with it straight away. Eventually Ameobi takes charge and heads clear
6
WALCOTT BURSTING DOWN THE MIDDLE: We’ve seen that before haven’t we. Nasri tries to slip the speed merchant in but he is sandwiched by the two Newcastle centre halves. That was good defending but promising signs from Walcott
5
GUTIERREZ GOES DOWN: The referee doesn’t want to know but the Newcastle man did go down in a heap on the floor after a strong challenge from Sagna. Appeals from the Newcastle fans but none really from the players
4
NEWCASTLE SEEING A LOT OF THE BALL: Nolan and Tiote in midfeild are keeping the ball well and Ameobi and Carroll are making it stick up front. Arsenal don’t seem to have woken up yet
2
DIVING CLEARANCE FROOM SQUILLACI: Carroll feeds Ameobi on the left and he sends a dangerous cross to the front post but Squillaci is there with an important header to get the ball away from danger
1
TACTICS: Walcott on the right and Nasri on the left as we expected. Song and Wilshere holding with Fabregas behind Chamakh
Kick Off ARSENAL GET US UNDERWAY….
Arsenal in their traditional red shirts, white shorts and white socks. The mascots run off the pitch and give Theo Walcott a quick hug. Now let’s get down to business
HIGH-FIVES ALL ROUND: The captain goes up to all ten players and gives them a mixture of hugs and high fives. He looks up for this today...
HERE THEY COME….Cesc Fabregas leads out the Arsenal team to a rapturous reception from the fans. They know the importance of the game today!
The players are in the tunnel and ready to come out…
Where’s my scarf...? There it is, that’s better. Gunnersaurus is limbering up in front of me and showing a good touch…for a big man
Kick off is now just five minutes away. Emirates Stadium is starting to fill up on a nippy afternoon in north London. Some of the Newcastle fans have got their shirts off… they must be crazy! I’m sitting here in a thick coat and I’m feeling the cold let me tell you.
Wenger has hailed the rapid progress of in-form Newcastle striker Andy Carroll. “Personally, I have been highly impressed by him. He has presence, charisma, confidence,” said Wenger. “He is intelligent on the ball. He has improved tremendously. I'm convinced Capello will have a look at him. I believe he will be good enough to play for England.” High praise indeed from the Arsenal manager and he starts today
“It was frustrating and it was boring.” Those were the words Jack Wilshere used to describe his suspension so he will be mightily relieved to be back in action today. Two weekends have since passed and after sitting out wins over Manchester City, today’s opponents Newcastle and West Ham he's warming up in front of me

Marouane Chamakh will spearhead the Arsenal attack as Nicklas Bendtner drops to the bench. From the mid-week defeat against Shakhtar Arsène Wenger makes five changes including a place at the heart of the Arsenal defence for Laurent Koscielny.
So Robin van Persie returns to the Arsenal squad for the first time since August 28 and is on the bench. Jack Wilshere is back from his three-game domestic suspension and starts in midfield alongside the returning Alex Song and captain Cesc Fabregas.
Fabianski, Sagna, Squillaci, Koscielny, Clichy, Song, Wilshere, Nasri, Walcott, Fabregas, Chamakh Subs: Rosicky, Van Persie, Djourou, Arshavin, Eboue, Bendtner, Szczesny

The MatchDay Show gets underway at 1.00pm (UK time) with highlights of our last Premier League meeting with Newcastle, the best bits from Arsene Wenger’s press conference, an interview with Lukasz Fabianski and all the breaking team news.
What are your thoughts ahead of the match Arsenal fans? How glad are you to see Jack Wilshere back in the reckoning after his suspension? How big is the threat posed by Andy Carroll? And tell me… we’re not going to leave it as late as we did against West Ham? Are we? Though today’s opponents will certainly be no pushover. Chris Hughton’s men thumped arch-rivals Sunderland 5-1 last weekend and after a long mid-week trip to Donetsk this game should not be taken for granted.
Though every fixture from now until May will be described as 'important' this one has an added edge. A win for Arsène Wenger’s side would move the Gunners to just two points behind and very much breathing down the neck of league leaders Chelsea, who travel to Liverpool later.
A Saturday of football without any Arsenal meant yesterday seemed slightly un-inspiring wouldn’t you say? Never fear though as the Gunners are back in action today with an early-ish kick off against Newcastle United, in what is another vital game at the top of the Premier League.
Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Arsenal TV Online’s MatchDay Show!
