ARSENAL WITH BALL: And in the Villa half! This is what the Gunners need to do to see out these final few minutes

FOUR MINUTES OF ADDED ON TIME…
89
Substitution ARSENAL CHANGE: Djourou on for Rosicky
89
ARSENAL WITH POSSESSION: They certainly aren’t rushing here…
87
GIBBS WINS A CORNER WELL: With two Villa players around him down by the corer flag. That will buy Arsenal a few valuable seconds

83
FABIANSKI FALLS ON IT: Dunne heads goalwards from a corner and with Young waiting to pounce the ‘keeper gathers it well
80
GOOD TACKLE FROM ARSAHIN: Yes, Arshavin! Young attacks down the left and is stopped by a great sliding challenge
79
CAREFUL: Chamakh can’t afford too many more of those as he unfairly jumps into Clark
78
VITAL SLIDING CHALLENGE FROM COLLINS: Arshavin plays a clever ball through to Chamakh who bares down on goal inside the area. Just as the Moroccan is about to pull the trigger Collins makes brilliantly timed tackle to deny him
76

75
Yellow Card CHAMAKH BOOKED: For a foul on Dunne on halfway

A corner was headed goalwards from a corner before Clarke helped it on and via the underside of the bar gets his second from six yards
70
GOAL! - Ciaran Clark 2 : 3 Goal for Aston Villa: Clark makes it 2-3
68
CLARK INTO THE SIDE NETTING: Sagna fails to deal with a cross and can only clear as far as the Villa goalscorer. Eight yards out he cuts back inside onto his left foot before hitting a shot just the wrong side of the right-hand post. Or, the RIGHT side of the post from our perspective
67
AN OPEN GAME: End to end here as both sides are creating decent openings
65
Substitution Change for Villa: Ireland on for Carew
63
WELL READ BY KOSCIELNY: Delfouneso runs at the defender before the Frenchman times his tackle expertly to win the ball
61
CONFIDENT PLAY FROM ARSENAL: Song, Wilshere and Nasri knock the ball about well in midfield.. much to the frustration of the home fans
59
NEAT TOUCHES FROM ARSENAL: They Gunners keep possesion on the edge of the area before Song tries to dink a ball over the top for Arshavin but Dunne heads clear.
57

55
The striker is slipped through before sliding the ball past Friedel on the stretch six yards out. Great response from Arsenal!
55
GOAL! - Marouane Chamakh 1 : 3 GOAL FOR ARSENAL: Chamakh restores the Gunners’ two-goal cushion.
52
Yellow Card Clark booked: For a foul on Sagna. He was just a bit too eager with that challenge as Sagna beat him to the ball
51
The ball gets headed away by Squillaci from a cross by it only goes as far as Clark. He chests the ball down before thundering past Fabianski
51
GOAL! - Ciaran Clark 1 : 2 Goal for Aston Villa: Clark makes it 2-1
50
VILLA LOOKING DANGEROUS: They have started the second half really brightly here
49
IMPORTANT HEADER FROM SAGNA: Young whips a great ball in from the right and with Carew waiting at the back post the defender flicks the ball past the frontman. Great defender from the in-form Frenchman
48
TACTCIS: As you were for Arsenal. And why would the boss want to change anything after Arsenal’s domination of the first half?
47
We were 2-0 up at half time last week but no mention of how that game ended up please!
Kick Off And we’re underway in the second half….
46
Substitution Villa change at the break: Delfouneso on for Pires. So we’ve seen the last of the former Gunner for today. The Arsenal fans know his qualities so may not be too disappointed to see the back of him
45

Half Time And there’s the half-time whistle! The Gunners are well worth their lead here.
44
Arshavin drills a corner towards the egde of the area and Nasri superbly volleys past the outstrecthed left hand of Friedel who was left with no chance. What a goal!
44
GOAL! - Samir Nasri 0 : 2 GOAL FOR ARSENAL!: Nasri makes it 2-0 to Arsenal!
43
FRIEDEL STICKS OUT A STRONG RIGHT HAND: Oh what a chance for Chamakh! A great ball in from the right is met by a towering header from the striker who is only denied by a great one-handed stop for the Villa ‘keeper.
39
NASRI ROUNDS FRIEDEL: But somehow manages to hit the side netting from six yards out with the goal at his mercy!
38
He picks up the ball on the left before cutting inside Young and firing a shot into the bottom right corner. What a great finish from the Russian! Friedel get a hand to it but couldn't keep it out
38
GOAL! - Andrey Arshavin 0 : 1 GOAL FOR ARSENAL!: Arshavin gives the Gunners the lead!
35
VILLA FANS UP: Warnock crossed from the left and it hit Wilshere. Handball? Not according to the referee
34
CHAMAKH BLOCKS A SHOT: But at the wrong end! Wilshere won the ball well from Carew and played it to Arshavin who found himself on the right. He left Pires on the floor before crossing to Chamakh and he set up a shooting chance for Nasri. His left-footed shot was hitting the target before smacking Chamakh's left leg
32
THAT COULD HAVE GONE ANYWHERE: Dunne gets very lucky as he slices a clearance over his own crossbar from just six yards. Nasri fired low across goal and Dunne was close to putting that into his own net
30

27
IT’S SETTLED DOWN SLIGHTLY: After a high tempo start to the game both sides seem content to play the game in midfield and since that glaring miss from Young neither side have created anything
25
GOT YOUR NUMBER?: After that early whack from Carew, Koscielny is now wearing a shirt with no number on the back... interesting
23
LET OFF: After all that hard work in the opening period of the game we could have quite easily gone behind there. That shows that Arsenal must concentrate at all times against a dangerous Villa side
22
HOW ON EARTH HAS YOUNG MISSED THAT?: What a let off! Downing sweeps in a great ball from the right and it misses everyone in the area before eventually reaching Ashley Young at the back post. From barely a yard he somehow prods his effort over the bar
21
ARSHAVIN GOES DOWN: Inside the area but the referee doesn’t want to know and the ball rolls harmlessly out for a goal kick. There was no real shout from the Arsenal players… or supporters there
20
ARSENAL REALLY ON TOP HERE: They have had much the better of the opening 20 minutes and have created a few good chances as Villa have looked nervous in the opening stages
19
THE HOME FANS GETTING FRUSTRATED: Luke Young tires to play a ball down the right to Downing though the pair are on different wavelengths and it goes harmlessly to Fabianski
18
What have you made of Arsenal's start? Email us via www.arsenal.com/studio, use the 'Facebook Chat' tab to interact with other fans or Tweet us via @ArsenalTVOnline.
17
NASRI DRILLS JUST WIDE: From that corner the ball gets headed away as far as Rosicky who squares to the Frenchman. 25 yards from goal he cuts inside onto his left foot and hits a left-footed shot agonizingly wide of the right post
15
ASHAVIN’S SHOT DEFLECTS WIDE: He hits an effort through a crowd of bodies and hits Warnock, I think, before going out for a corner
14
The away fans really are singing their hearts out!
13
NANANANANANANANA: Samir Nas-a-ri, Nas-a-ri… SAMIR NAS-A-RI
12
ROSICKY TESTS FRIEDEL: Chamakh slips the ball through to the Czech man and he hits a shot low to the goalkeeper’s left. The American makes a smart stop as he holds on to the ball with Arsenal shirts waiting to pounce
11
FIRST SIGN OF PIRES: Though he is flagged offside. He receives the ball on the left and before he is able to attack Sagna the referee pulls it back for offside
10
KOSCIELNY GETS A WHACK: From Carew as the pair go up for a header. He’s having to change his shirt on the touchline in front of us, but he’s back on now…
9
ALL YOU CAN HERE IS ARSENAL FANS: ‘Arsenal Arsenal Arsenal….’
8
PIRES WATCH: He has struggled to get into the game so far as Wilshere, Song and Co have had the better of it in midfield
7
KOSCIELNY WINS A HEADER: Against the big man that is John Carew from a goal kick
6
SQUILLACI DOWN: And he looks in a bit of pain here. He tries to Sheppard the ball out for a goal kick and gets a whack from Warnock after the ball had gone out. He’s up now though and back in position
6
CHAMAKH GOES FOR GOAL: Left footed he drags a shot wide from outside the area
5
CHAMAKH FLICKS IT ON: Pires loses out to Song and feeds Sagna on the right. From a promising position he crosses well in the direction of the striker. He tries to head goalwards but just can’t get enough on it from the penalty spot
3
ROSICKY FIRES JUST WIDE: Wilshere plays an intelligent ball into the captain who drags a shot wide from a promising position on the right of the area. Very clever from Wilshere...
2
TACTICS: Arshavin from the left, Rosicky in the middle and Nasri on the right. With Song and Wilshere holding
1
EARLY CHANCE FOR ARSENAL: Sloppy from Villa as they give the ball away on the edge of their own area. Arshavin nicks in before feeding Nasri inside the area though under pressure he can’t get a shot away. Positive start for the Gunners
Kick Off AND HERE WE GO: COME ON YOU GUNNERS!
CAPTAINS SHAKE HANDS: And Arsenal will kick off playing from left to right in the first half
ARSENAL FANS IN FULL VOICE: A lot of Gooners have made the trip today and are making themselves heard!
The players do their customary line-up and Pires is second last in the Villa que. He gets a few hugs along the line, remember he has been training with Arsene Wenger and his side in recent months
HERE THEY COME: Arsenal in yellow shirts, redcurrant shorts and yellow socks lead by captain Rosicky
It’s a bitterly cold November’s day at Villa Park. The players are in the tunnel and here we go…
Robert Pires has just been announced to the Villa fans for the first time. I wonder what will be going through his mind before the game? An emotional day for a number of reasons for the midfielder.
The away fans are making are making a lot of noise to my left as the Arsenal team is read out the by the announcer. Every player greeted by a cheer...
The Arsenal team have just made their way back into the dressing rooms and are being closely followed by the Villa side. Kick off is fast approaching...
I’ve just taken my seat in the press box and am fortunate enough to be sitting alongside Dan Roebuck. Today, Dan is wearing a very fetching brown fury leather coat and if I say so myself is pulling it off very well!
Ahead of today’s reunion with Robert Pires, Wenger insists the cultured French midfielder would still be an asset to any Premier League side, he STARTS for the home team today.
Marouane Chamakh replaces Nicklas Bendtner and leads the Arsenal attack. Alex Song, Andrey Arshavin and captain for the day Tomas Rosicky start in midfield while Lukasz Fabianski continues in goal.
So Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and Laurent Koscielny come into defence as Johan Djourou and Kieran Gibbs drop to the bench. Emmanuel Eboue misses out with a knee injury.
